Tasmanian Forest Competency Plan Workshop
August 22, 2019 at the Grange Campbell Town 9.30am-300pm
Based on a successful model from the US, the Tasmanian Forest Competency Plan’s (TFCP) goal will be to encourage teachers to develop comprehensive forest/natural resource education programs, encouraging students to appreciate forest landscapes and make informed and responsible decisions about forests and forest resources.
The TFCP provides a conceptual guide supporting educators to integrate forest education into the school curriculum. The plan will be structured in two parts, a conceptual framework and scope and sequence. The Conceptual Framework identifies the important concepts that Tasmanian students should learn about our forests. The scope and sequence will identify the grade levels that each concept be taught at and the Australian Curriculum connections.
